USPS is about to put forth the largest single increase in postage we have ever received.
Starting Sunday, July 13, 2025, the cost of sending out a paper statement will increase to $1.09 for the first page and $0.09 for each additional page. In contrast, MEDENT users who take advantage of our Text to Pay feature through Global Payments Integrated can deliver billing notifications to patients for just $0.20—a savings of $0.89+ per statement.
Multiply that by hundreds or even thousands of statements each month and the savings add up fast.
Text to Pay lets your practice send secure statements and payment requests via text or email, whichever the patient prefers! Patients simply tap the link in the message to view their balance and enter their credit card information to make a payment.
There’s no app to download, no password to remember and no waiting for the mail. It’s fast, convenient and designed to get your practice paid quicker while saving you money.
Cost Efficiency: At just 20 cents per message, Text to Pay costs 80% less per statement sent via text or email.
Faster Payments: Patients receive and act on digital statements faster than paper mail, improving your cash flow.
Eco-Friendly: Less paper means a smaller environmental footprint.
Patient Convenience: Today’s consumers expect digital options—and most prefer them.
With the rising cost of postage and paper, traditional billing is becoming less sustainable. The jump to $1.09+ per paper statement is just the latest example. By switching to digital-first billing methods like Text to Pay, practices can cut costs while modernizing the patient experience.
If your practice sends 1,000 statements per month:
Paper Statements: 1,000 x $1.09 = $1,090/month
Text to Pay: 1,000 x $0.20 = $200/month
Monthly Savings: $890
Annual Savings: Over $10,000
And that’s not even counting any additional pages for long statements. The total cost is $1.09 for the first page and $0.09 for each additional page.
1 – Patients opt in to receive statements via text or email. Set their Preferences in Patient Information. Note, patients with an active Patient Portal can easily access and change their statement delivery method.
2 – When a patient makes a payment, a receipt-status eSuperbill is automatically created in MEDENT. Meanwhile, the patient receives payment confirmation via text or email.
3 – Add a Text/Email Payments button at the bottom of Chart Central to quickly view and post & close all payments in the list. Payments can also easily be viewed and posted using existing workflows, like the Daily Billing Summary.
4 – View receipts for Text to Pay transactions via the patient’s ledger or the Global Payments Transaction Log.
