All providers and suppliers must enroll in HETS Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) to check Medicare beneficiary eligibility. Health care providers (including suppliers), vendors and clearinghouses work together for HETS enrollment. CMS will move to a new HETS trading partner management system on May 11, 2026. Please complete the enrollment process to ensure continued access to HETS.
To complete enrollment, visit CMS.gov and click to expand Enrollment Information for Providers. Then, scroll down and choose your Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) for the HETS enrollment.
Note: You can also go directly to the MAC website for enrollment. Regardless of which clearinghouse is used for Medicare eligibility, the request will eventually route through HETS.
Part of the enrollment process is attesting to which clearinghouse(s) the provider will be using for Medicare eligibility. You must enter the Unique HETS ID for the clearinghouse. If you are unsure which clearinghouse you use, please contact medent Support.
