Behind every smooth, accurate note lies more than just ambient listening — it’s also about structured data. That’s where LOINC codes (Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes) come in.
LOINC codes provide a standardized way to identify lab results, clinical observations, and measurements. When paired with Suki AI in MEDENT, they ensure that the notes you create aren’t just fast and easy. They’re also:
✅ Accurate — mapping terms consistently across providers and specialties
✅ Interoperable — allowing your data to be shared seamlessly with other systems, labs, and health networks
✅ Actionable — making lab results and observations easier to track, report, and analyze
Heather Miller, Vice President of Partnerships at Suki, highlighted the importance of this when talking about pediatrics:
“We just added development history for pediatrics and this is so important because this is actually helping prompt our AI looking for patients' developmental history — everything from early milestones to social and language development — it’s capturing that information in a standardized way so that every provider has that same full picture.”
In other words, LOINC codes act as a dictionary for AI, helping Suki recognize and correctly classify information like vitals, labs and developmental history.
Matt Del Favero, Project Manager at MEDENT, tied it back to the bigger picture of data exchange:
“Having that codification really makes interoperability so much easier and better and more accurate. If you don't implement things like LOINC codes and diagnosis codes...if you just had kind of a blob of text that didn't have any codes associated with it, that makes it much more difficult. So I have to give props to Suki for understanding that things like that are important and implementing these codes.”
It’s a small change with a big impact on coordination, early intervention and long-term care.
Think about it: It’s not just about faster notes — it’s about making sure your notes are accurate, shareable and meaningful wherever they go.
